North Carolina Great Smoky Mountains

Angling appears good to excellent from one end of North Carolina to the other. Limits of smallmouth bass at Fontana Lake in the Great Smoky Mountains and scads of big whiting to 2 pounds in the surf at Hatteras Island top the catch
LAKE NORMAN: Striped bass up major creek arms, mainly on live baits. Largemouth now uplake toward where Catawba River flows in on live baits. Largemouth, spotted bass around some bridge pilings on live shad. Large crappie 30 feet deep around brush on minnows. White perch in Stumpy Creek arm on live baits.2. LAKE WYLIE: Crappie fishing probably at a spring peak. Hitting jigs, minnows around very shallow brush. Largemouth on artificial worms worked around shallow points. Catfish on crawlers.
