Fishing in Florida

1. Around Lakeland, bass up to 83⁄4 pounds, and half-dozen over 5 pounds, on deepdiving crankbaits in open tournament on Lake Parker Sunday. Winners averaged about 51⁄2 pounds per fish with firetiger Model 7A Bombers over mussel bars. Bass moving deeper as water warms up. YoZuri Rattlin' Vibe (perch) producing medium-sized bass in Lake Crago, reports Bobby Blizzard at Big Fish Outfitters. Bass up to 3-5 pounds at Lake Gibson on red shad Culprit worms, said Blizzard, and mussel bars should be turning on with crankbaits there as well. Bass up to 23 inches at lakes F, 5 and Hydrilla at Tenoroc, reports Brian Fleming. Bluegill pretty consistent at Tenoroc. Anglers averaging 25 per trip, with lakes 3, A and Shop producing best, said Fleming. Bluegill consistent on crickets and Beetle-Spins on east shore of Lake Parker, at Lake Bonny and Lake Lester, said Blizzard.
2. At Auburndale, YoZuri Rattlin' Vibe (greenback and blue-back with silver sides) and 10- or 12-inch worms (Jethro watermelon red seed) producing excellent numbers of bass up to 6 pounds at Lake Alfred, reports Ron Schelfo at Ron's Tackle Box in Lake Alfred.Complete fishing report
