ice fishing

Drilling holes calls for an ice auger. Ferguson says gas-powered augers are spendy while hand augers cost around $50. Carry extra auger blades, he said, because dirt in ice will dull auger blades quickly.
A large chisel or a spud bar helps clean out holes and hole covers help keep the holes from freezing over. A scoop is helpful for straining ice from the hole, also.
