The biggest bass

To have a fair shot at a 10-pounder, you have to fish where they live and where the annual growing season lasts long enough to get them to the magical number. That includes Florida, Texas and California, where the faster-growing Florida-strain largemouth bass live.
The biggest bass I've ever weighed came from Florida on a 1-pound wild shiner minnow. The lunker weighed 13 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 30 inches. It was a post-spawn fish that likely weighed more than that before she dumped her eggs.
Timing is everything when it comes to catching big bass that are moving up to spawn.

That is an amazing catch! How much weight do fish lose when they spawn?
