NORTHERN WISCONSIN ice fishing report

NORTHERN WISCONSIN: Good: With forecast cold this week, more ice will be made by the weekend. Guide Kurt Justice noted that this ice has allowed good light penetration, and fishing has been good since first ice. He said crappies became the hot item last week, especially on dark rockers tipped with waxies or dark plastics on Minocqua in standing cabbage (7-12 feet). Justice also reported 28½-inch walleye from Minocqua and Katherine last week. Northwest Side reader John Vician and his son Marty caught a 26-incher from Big Arb over the weekend. Best for walleye has been tipups at night. Big Arb has had the hot perch bite. Bluegill have been good in weeds (5-8 feet).Fishing forum
