Mercury Alabama fishing sites

Mercury is the chief contaminant at several popular Alabama fishing sites, including the tourist attractions of Bear Creek Reservoir in Franklin County, the Fowl and Tensaw rivers in Mobile and Baldwin County, and even offshore. The entire Gulf Coast, both Mobile and Baldwin counties, carries a mercury advisory for king mackerel. King mackerel more than 39 inches long should not be consumed. King mackerel less than 39 inches in length are marked for "limited consumption," meaning women of reproductive age and children 15 years old and younger should avoid eating the fish altogether, and adult males should consume no more than one meal of king mackerel per month.
