Most walleye anglers are focusing their efforts around the Frazier Bay area using nightcrawlers with slipbobbers at around 10 feet off weed edges. Muskie action has been outstanding around the Vermilion Dam area using topwater baits. Bass and bluegills are at shallow depths using worms or leeches. The Vermilion and Little Fork rivers also are producing good walleye and bass action using leeches or crawlers on weed edges.

Eagle River
SMALLMOUTH BASS: Fish hardbottom areas, such as rock piles, and off of break edges in 20 feet of water or less. Use a plastic tube or crawfish, Senko rigged wacky, a small Mepps spinner, or a jig and a minnow or leech. All day action and the bite is good to excellent.

Thousand Islands
Thousand Islands (St. Lawrence River) : "A more picturesque fishing destination you will not find. It seems for each of the islands poking out of his section of the St. Lawrence, a dozen 5-pound smallies exist. It took 50-10 to win a September BFL event here, and you had to average more than 18 pounds over the two days to be in the Top 10. And this is more than a trophy fishery, as you will likely be tired of setting the hook and fighting better-than-average brown bass at the end of the fishing day."

WESTERN LAKE ERIE
WESTERN LAKE ERIE
The best walleye fishing has been in Canadian waters around Pelee and Middle islands. Walleye are being caught west and north of West Sister Island, west of West Reef, north of B Can on the Camp Perry Firing Range, north of Niagara Reef and around Gull and Kelleys Island shoals.
The perch fishing has been poor to fair, with some perch caught between Kelleys Island and the Marblehead Lighthouse and around Lucys Point on the northeast corner of Middle Bass Island.

North Sterling Reservoir
The water level of the lake is good and the lake is full. The lake water temperature is currently 60 degrees. Wiper have been caught in the Elks Bay just south of the boat ramp as well as just east of the swim beach. Walleye are being caught near the inlet canal as well as up the Darby Arm, just North of Darby Point. Boat fishermen have caught trout near the dam and the south boat ramp along with some crappie and wiper. The catfish have been caught at the West Trailhead and at the Inlet Canal. The road to the south boat ramp and ski beach is closed at this time due to flooding.

Brush Island
Minnesota side, there were real good reports off of the points near Brush Island and the red buoy near Brush in about 15-20 feet. There isn't much happening on the Flag Island flats yet since there were no bug hatches this week with the colder weather. There is still good fishing on the NW point of Garden Island and Little Oak is also reporting good numbers. They've had good luck with bottom bouncers and a spinner in about 15 feet of water.

Fish Finders
Developments in technologies that allow us to better find and see structure and fish below the boat, see fish and structure to the boat’s sides and navigate to fishing spots have allowed anglers to be much better at finding fishing spots and fish. Plus, these technologies can now be combined into a single unit. The Raymarine a128 unit I use lets me customize the touch screen to display up to four windows at once. My display shows windows that give me surface to bottom views of structure and fish, a window to view to both sides of the boat and a window to allow me to navigate using a Navionics map.
