Sheridan Lake:

Plenty of rainbow trout showing up particularly along the northwest shore near the dam. One group last week boated 33 fish during a 2-hour span. The bite can be inconsistent though, hot one day and not so much the next. Perch are active as well on slip bobbers and nightcrawlers though as with trout the bite can be unpredictable.

Navajo Lake:

Fishing was fair to good using Ricos, Pop Rs, finesse worms, jerk baits, tubes, brush hogs, wooly buggers and spinners for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using jigs, swim baits, minnows, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was fair trolling kokanee killers, double whammies, Panther Martins and Arnies tipped with PowerBait for kokanee salmon.

Old Hickory:

Fishing is still pretty fair. Bass fishing is doing really well on plastic worms (purple) fished Texas-rig. Walleye fishing is good at night in the main channels and trolling. There has even been reports of sauger being caught in front of Sanders Ferry Boat Ramp in the channel. Catfishing has slowed due to many blues are sitting on eggs for a few weeks and then will return to the depths.

Lake Ontario

Lake Ontario salmon action is continuing on a consistent clip to the delight of trollers at Wilson, Olcott and the Niagara Bar. The fish zone was 71 to 111 feet down over 130 to 180 feet of water with a Dreamweaver UV Frog spin doctor and an A-Tom-Mik twinkie set-up with A-Tom-Mik meat set out 205 feet on a diver. Another productive rod was a 10-inch white green dot Dreamweaver spin doctor with A-Tom-Mik meat set down 91 feet.

HACKENSACK AREA

Walleyes are being caught on leeches or nightcrawlers on Baby Lake in 18 to 22 feet, Woman Lake in 20 to 24 feet, and Pine Mountain Lake in 17 to 20 feet. The mid-depth rocks on Stoney Lake continue to produce smallmouth bass, and largemouth are being caught on the weedlines or slop on most lakes. The 10- to 14-foot cabbage on Birch Lake, Pleasant Lake, and Portage Lake continues to produce panfish.

Trinidad Lake

Fishing from south shore has been good. Fish that are being caught around the lake have been with worms and PowerBait. Reilly canyon, where the river comes in has slowed and no catfish are being reported. Yellow perch are being caught around the lake in flooded vegetation. Boaters have been catching mostly trout and walleye. Perch are also starting to be caught from the shore and boats. Jigs tipped with worms have been the most effective.

Presque Isle Bay

Yellow perch were generally spotty, but abundant in the spots where they were found. A few meal-size keepers were caught in Presque Isle Bay, a good bite was reported off the East Pier and perch continued to be taken west of the peninsula at about 40 feet, particularly off Trout Run and Godfrey Run. But between hot spots, the perch fishing was generally poor. Many sublegal walleye were taken on crawler harnesses, spoons or stickbaits. Some anglers released scores of young walleye, some boats limited out and a few fish in the 20-inch range were reported. Walleye were marked at virtually all depths. Smallmouths went for soft plastics at nearshore structure east of North West.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

Flounder catches have really picked up with some limit catches being made and doormats are being caught. Sheepshead fishing remains excellent. Spadefish of various sizes are hanging around the structure. Sight-casters are finding cobia and large red drum in the area. Anglers trolling spoons are catching Spanish mackerel and small bluefish.
