Milford Reservoir

 Good fishing near outlet with water releasing. Largemouths up to 5 pounds being caught on points by flooded coves using spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and jigs. Smallmouths up to 4 pounds caught near gravel banks and points near dropoffs. Catfish weighing up to 60 pounds caught near wind-blown shorelines and channel ledges in the upper end.

Elk River

The Elk River was slow for trout but the smallmouth bite was good when using artificial lures. Lake trout were caught in the West Bay when trolling in the shallows. Lake herring were taken in various depths south of Lee Point and from Marion Island south. The Boardman River was slow but anglers did find a few bass and some suckers.

Raccoon Lake

Raccoon Lake is providing anglers with plenty of action since its recent trout stocking. Anglers from the shore are catching trout on paste baits and jigs, and those fishing from boats are finding success using spinners.

TRUMAN Fishing

 60s, clarity varies widely, 21 feet high and falling. Outlook: Guide Bob Bates reports: Some ramps closed; debris affecting ramps and navigation; crappies holding in 20 feet of water in the brush at midlake, use minnows or Swarm Bandit jigs; white bass good on  1/2 -ounce and  3/4 -ounce spoons or minnows in 22 to 25 feet of water on bottom. Cody’s Guide Service reports: Hybrids good on live shad and spoons; catfish good on cut shad and live bait on jug lines. Below the dam: Catfish, hybrids and white bass good on artificial and live baits.

Lake Francis Case

 

Around Chamberlain , Lake Sharpe is producing walleye, and the bite is good. From Crow Creek to the Big Bend Dam the bite is good on spinners with minnows or crawlers. Water temp is around 55 degrees. Anglers are fishing in 10-20 feet.

On Francis Case in the Platte area fishing for walleye is fair, but is picking up. Warmer weather is helping. Anglers are using spinners and crawlers with some pulling crank baits. Smallmouth are being caught here also.

At the Pickstown - Wagner – Lake Andes areas the fishing is good. Most anglers are fishing in 12-30 feet and some are casting towards shore. Pease Creek has been doing well on bass and black crappie. As with other areas, the warmer weather will give fishing a boost. The water temp is around 55 degrees here too. Shore fishing both above and below the Fort Randall Dam has been very good.

Pelican Lake

Pelican Lake near Orr is a relatively large, nearly 11,000 acre, lake with a diverse fishery that provides opportunities to catch northern pike, bass - largemouth and smallmouth - walleye, black crappie, and bluegill. Special regulations for northern pike and bass were first implemented in 1998. The northern pike regulation protects all fish from 24 to 36 inches and the bass regulation protects fish from 14 to 20 inches. A fish population assessment completed in 2016 indicates the fish community has responded well to these regulations, with increased size observed for both northern pike and bass. In addition, abundance of black crappie, bluegill, yellow perch, and walleye has generally increased since the regulation was implemented.

Caesar Creek Lake:

 There has been some flooding and boat ramps have been under water, but the lake is not in bad shape. Saugeye fishing has picked up on the flats. Try tightlining a nightcrawler or trolling a crawler harness. Bass are tight to the banks. Use spinnerbaits or plastics in shallow water. Crappies have been hitting minnows in water 6-15 feet deep. Look for structure. A few muskies have been caught under the Ohio 73 Bridge and by bass fishermen.

Pymatuning Reservoir

Pymatuning Reservoir, fishermen are picking up crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish and bluegill. It also is anticipated that walleye will be available to catch shortly.
