Elephant Butte Lake:

Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, spinners, jerk baits, minnows and grubs for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using jigs, crankbaits and minnows for walleye. Fishing was slow to fair using top water lures, creature baits, crank baits, senkos, Ben rigs, jerk baits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Night fishing was fair using cut bait, dead minnows and chicken liver for catfish

Washburn county

Fishing has been great around Washburn county this week.  Bass, walleyes, pike and panfish have all been active.  The weather has been all over the place, sunny, windy, raining, hot, cool and all of the above on any particular day.
In spite of this the fish are biting good. Jigs and leeches are working good, and we've caught some fish trolling crankbaits recently too. I'm expecting a good weed bite to continue for a while on most all of our lakes.

Lake St. Clair

All fishing slowed somewhat due to the Mayfly hatch. Smallmouth bass were caught along the Mile Roads and near the St. Clair Light in 10 to 15 feet. Walleye were found off Metro Beach and near the Clinton River Cut-Off launch when trolling a crawler harness or swim baits. The Clinton River Cut-Off ramp is open for business.  Muskie fishing was slow but some large fish were caught near the Harley Ensign launch when trolling.

Traverse City:

Lake trout fishing in the East Bay was fair when trolling the shallows south of the M-37 launch or jigging off Deepwater Point. Bass fishing around Yuba Creek was slow but the fish that were caught were good size. The shallows along the west side and the south end were good spots. Bass fishing slowed in the Elk River but a few nice ones were taken on plastics and crawlers. Pike and freshwater drum were also caught. Those fishing the dam caught perch and rock bass. Lake trout were caught in the West Bay when trolling the shallows south of Marion Island, along the southeast end of the bay and south of the M-22 launch. Smallmouth bass and rock bass were caught in the Boardman River on leeches and soft plastics.

Chama River above El Vado

Keep an eye on the upper Chama River above El Vado, streamflows here are dropping steadily and conditions on this productive stretch of the river should be prime by the end of June. The Pecos River is also dropping and last week was stocked with over 3,000 catchable-size rainbow trout.

As well as the good trout fishing in Northern New Mexico, the fishing for smallmouth bass at Abiquiu Lake has been very good. The bass are on their spawning beds now. Walleye are hitting and fishing for these fish is better early and late in the day, especially under the very hot and sunny conditions we’ve been experiencing lately. Walleyes have large, sensitive eyes for which they are named and don’t like bright sunshine.

Releases below Navajo dam on the San Juan River continue to be heavy at 4,750 cubic feet per second. The best fishing is from drift boats.

Pymatuning Reservoir

Pymatuning Reservoir, anglers are picking up a variety of fish, including channel catfish, largemouth bass, yellow perch, crappie and walleye. Fishermen looking to pick up panfish should hone in on the shallow areas, up to about 8 feet of water. Warmer water temperatures may drive the bass into the deeper sections of the reservoir.

Lake Erie walleye fishing

Lake Erie walleye fishing this week has been awesome at times and slow at times. The one constant is that the smaller, undersized fish are biting almost everywhere you go and are very plentiful. Keeper sized fish have been a bit more spotty this week after a cold front that blasted through last week cooled the water temperature around the islands. The area between Kelleys Island and South Bass was producing limit catches last week, but after the big northeast blow on Wednesday of last week this area cooled off for the keeper sized fish, especially for boats that were casting for walleye. Trolling was still producing some good keeper sized fish so it was probably a bit of cooler water technology that was working best. The area north of West Sister Island has been producing some good catches of keeper sized walleye as that area seems to have been immune to the cooling from the northeast winds allowing anglers to stuff the cooler with good ones!

Walleye fishing

Walleye fishing is fair to good to the Ohio line. Try from 24 feet out to 45 feet. Glow blue Bay Rats have been very good at night. Walleye have been liking Walleye Bandit deep-diving stick baits. There are reports that the migratory walleye are at least on the way toward Pennsylvania.
Perch fishing has been spotty in the Barcelona to Dunkirk area. The better perch fishing in New York Lake Erie water has been in the areas of Cattaraugus Creek and Sturgeon Point.
In Pennsylvania water to the east of Erie, probably the best perch fishing has been off the Claybanks, Six Mile Run and Seven Mile Run in the depth range of 39 feet to 45 feet. Many of the perch caught here have been longer than 11 inches. Perch fishing has been spotty and only fair to the west of Erie.
