Mississippi River

 the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports fishing along the Mississippi River near Wyalusing State Park "has not be very good" due to heavy rainfall. Fishing has been better in eastern Wisconsin, where the DNR reports walleye fishing on the Lake Winnebago system has been "very good" with many anglers catching their limits of walleyes. Anglers who catch their walleye limits are then targeting perch with success.

Onekama

Chinook catches are picking up in at Onekama, the DNR said, and around the “Barrel” and in front of the golf course when trolling green spoons and flies in the top 25 to 65 feet of waters 250 to 300 feet deep. Lake trout and steelhead were also caught.
There’s still no mayfly hatch to report at Portage Lake so anglers were taking good catches of bass and panfish.  Perch were found in 18 to 25 feet off Eagle Point, the DNR said, adding bluegills were found in the weed beds along the east end and bass were being found in all areas.
“Everything is pretty slow right now,” Dewey Buchner of Don’s Sporting Goods in Manistee said. “They were getting some bluegills and crappies on Manistee Lake. They were doing good on salmon but it slowed down this week. At Hamlin, they were getting some nice bluegills.”
A few walleye were caught by those trolling a crawler harness at lakes Cadillac and Mitchell, the DNR said. The panfish were in shallow and were hitting on spiders, small flies and artificial baits.  Crappies were caught with a slip bobber in eight to 12 feet.

CANYON LAKE:

 Water stained; 82-86 degrees; 4.26 feet low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged watermelon red Whacky Sticks, chartreuse topwaters, and pumpkin Curb's Erratic jigs in 6-12 feet along bluff ledges. Striped bass are fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits and vertically jigging white Curb's striper jigs. White bass are slow. Smallmouth bass are good on smoke/red tubes and silver flake Whacky Sticks along main lake points and ledges. Crappie are fair on white tube jigs and live minnows. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

Spiny ray

 

 

Diamond Lake has been good for largemouth bass. Fish the docks with soft baits such as a Senko. Sacheen Lake also has some decent-sized largemouth.

Liberty Lake anglers have been getting into some large schools of decent-sized perch, which is not to say they’re all keepers. It’s a good destination for kids, though, and size does not seem to matter to them. Silver Lake largemouth are hitting on both sides of the lake. Topwaters and deep-running plastics are taking largemouth to 4 pounds. Either side of the lake is good. Anglers fishing near Willow Bay Resort on Long Lake report good catches of 9- to 12-inch perch by throwing small jigs tipped with a piece of worm. Catches will often also include smallmouth bass and trout. It’s easy to catch a lot of smallmouth on tube jigs from Long Lake anywhere between the launch at Nine to Tum Tum. A few will run up to 3 pounds, but most are smaller.

Red Wing :

 Conditions on the Mississippi River have improved as the water levels have stabilized. In the steady water levels, anglers have been locating fish and then remaining in the area as long as the water level remains consistent. Anglers have been having success using light jigs with crawlers or leeches.

TANEYCOMO fishing

: 48 degrees, clear, low flow in the mornings with increases to 2-4 units most of the afternoon Outlook: Lilleys’ Landing reports: no real change, fishing activity has remained the same. They've been drawing the lake down over night so in the mornings the lake is unusually low, use caution! Fishing has been very good overall. There are a lot of Rainbows in the lake and they are bigger than normal. They’re still wanting to chase something, especially early in the mornings. Spoons and spinners are working well, either throwing and reeling them in or trolling behind the boat. Trolling crank baits has been doing well with bigger fish. The Berkley Pink PowerWorm is still a must for anyone struggling to catch fish. Fish it 4-5 feet deep early in the morning, then move it deeper as the sun gets higher in the sky, around 7-8 feet deep. Use 2-pound line as tippet for more bites, but 4-pound is ok. Sculpin/Ginger and Sculpin/peach 1/16^th oz Marabou jigs are catching big numbers of rainbows below and above Fall Creek in the mornings. Use bigger jigs when water is running more. The jig and float method with either a sculpin or ginger micro jig, on 2-pound tippet is catching good numbers of rainbows. A #16 to #18 weighted gray scud or a San Juan Worm or a Mega Worm should also work well, or try a Zebra Midge and a soft hackle if they are rising on midges. Wading below the dam, try the same flies.

Detroit Lakes area

: Walleye still are relating to the shoreline breaks, long extending points and shoreline break humps, but they are starting to move deeper. Bass and northern pike have been aggressive in the shallows. Crappies have started to move off their beds, transitioning to the outside weed edges.

Oneida Lake report:

 Walleye activity is continuing with decent action around Lewis Point and toward the eastern end of the lake. Bucktail jigs and blade baits are working well. Pickerel have been taking stickbaits and crankbaits and a few nice northern pike have been reported. Perch action is increasing and the bullhead bite has been good in the evening.
